Tunnel "Zheleznitsa" of Struma Highway

The project for the construction of the Railway Tunnel on the Struma Motorway is co-financed by the Cohesion Fund of the European Union and the national budget through OP Transport and Transport Infrastructure 2014-2020. The facility will be about 2 km long, with two separate pipes in the direction and will be the longest road tunnel in our country. It includes two service roads on both sides of the facility and a helicopter pad. The tunnel is built according to a new Austrian method - about 1.5-2 m are dug in each pipe 24 hours a day and immediately after that the primary lining of the facility is made with fasteners and reinforced sprayed concrete and anchors. The tunnel will have all the necessary systems for energy efficient lighting, ventilation, video surveillance, fire alarm, intelligent traffic management system, emergency SOS booths, audio and radio notification, electronic access control system, etc.
